This is a track I wrote while attending my freshman year at Idyllwild Arts Academy. I believe in songs telling stories, and I hope this one tells a good tale.

My name is Christy Perkins. My musical journey began in the same place my life story did, Boulder, Colorado, born and raised. I picked up my first guitar around the age of ten, and found myself performing regularly with the Boulder School of Rock. From then on I dabbled in all kinds of areas along the path of music. A study of jazz and classical guitar, piano, and most stringed instruments (my personal favorite being the banjo) came first on my path. This is where I began combining my love for writing and my love for music, and I found my passion for songwriting, what I consider my life’s calling.

After a year of studies at Denver School of the Arts in eighth grade, I made my way across the country to California to attend Idyllwild Arts Academy. It was at Idyllwild Arts that my voice as a songwriting major was finally heard, and I knew the next steps on my musical journey. Composition, extensive music theory, then later audio engineering and electronic music production found its way into my life, and I applied it all to my songwriting. I then spent the first half of my second year of high school back home in Boulder, and this is where the fantastic opportunity of the Natural Highs Record Label appeared to me. This welcoming community gave me the chance to release my music alongside many of my brilliant and talented peers. The record label has given me yet another opportunity to voice my passion through song, and share music with the world around me.
